“These spaces are so important to our regional towns,” Mayor Reid said.

This is not a drill! The Balaklava Neighbourhood Shed is looking for people with a knack for tinkering to come along to a public meeting, as it begins a riveting new chapter.

The meeting – hosted by Wakefield Regional Council – will be open to everyone and will be an opportunity for those interested to come along and have their say about what the communal workspace could look like.

The Balaklava Neighbourhood Shed Public Meeting

When: Monday 24 February 2020, 10-11am

Where: Neighbourhood House, Apex Park, Balaklava

Wakefield Mayor Rodney Reid said community sheds are becoming a movement in most regional areas and are helping to bring people together and form outlets for creativity.

“These spaces are so important to our regional towns – they foster a sense of community; they are a place where knowledge is passed on; and are a great way to give back,” Mayor Reid said.

“I’d encourage anyone interested in joining or who are perhaps just wanting to know a bit more about what the Shed does to come along.”

RSVPs and inquiries are to be directed to Council’s Community Development Officer, Holly Hannaford on 8862 0800.
