Wakefield Regional Council is nestled neatly between the Clare Valley tourism region and the Yorke Peninsula tourism region. Wakefield is the gateway to most of SA's premier tourism regions, including the Flinders Ranges, the Copper Coast, the Outback and of course the Yorke Peninsula and Clare Valley.

Balaklava Museum

In 1972 the Balaklava and District Historical society was formed and in 1975 it became a branch of the National Trust of South Australia. Early in 2004 the Balaklava group severed it's connection with the National Trust to become "Balaklava Museum Inc"

Now owned by the Wakefield Regional Council the maintenance and running of the Museum has been entrusted to the members of Balaklava Museum Inc.
