Blyth Sporting Precinct

Project overview

Like many sporting hubs, the Blyth Sporting Precinct has been developed over many years without the guidance of an overall master plan. Council and the Blyth Management Committee (BMC) have recognised the benefit of having a master plan to help guide future development decisions and to support grant funding applications.

The Blyth Sporting Precinct is the town’s central sporting hub and supports many clubs and sports including bowls, cricket, football, netball, tennis and archery. The site is also home to an RV park and BMX track, as well as memorial gardens, playgrounds and walking paths.

In support of our Wakefield 2030 Community Plan, Council and the BMC intend to improve the quality of sport and recreation facilities to help encourage active, healthy lifestyles. The project will also work in harmony with the upgrade of South Terrace to ensure entrances to the precinct are reconfigured and more formalised parking is available.

Council has engaged JPE Design to develop the master plan to better integrate and upgrade the facilities, improve access and open up the landscape to more community enjoyment.

We thank everyone who has provided feedback on this project and we look forward to updating you further in the near future.

Council has allocated a budget of $40,000 to progress the Blyth Sporting Precinct Master Plan to detailed design in 2022/23.
