Financial Difficulties Application

A Financial Difficulties Application is a confidential document used to notify Council when residents are struggling financially to pay rates and fees. Once this application is submitted, Council's financial team will review the case as a whole and attempt to provide a suitable payment plan.

What can I expect after submission?

All applicants can expect contact from Council after lodging. This usually comes in the form of a phone call, where you will be made a payment plan offer and provided with further advice. For this reason, it's important you provide your best contact number when prompted in the application.

We recommend contacting the Financial Counselling Helpline on 1800 007 007 before starting this application as we do ask for details or documentation to support your request. The Helpline is also a good opportunity to seek more advice on what further support is available to you.

  • Or submission will be accepted over the counter at the Council's Civic Centre on Scotland Place
