Property nuisance

Nuisance can also be caused by a condition of a property either caused by human activity or caused by a failure to act:

  • Insanitary conditions or neglected properties which present a risk of rodent infestation or generates offensive odours.
  • Excessive or unconstrained rubbish, waste or vegetation.
  • Stockpiled, excessive or unconstrained disused or derelict items or materials.
  • Unsightly conditions caused by human activity or a failure to act.
  • Building in disrepair, dilapidation or partly demolished.

When should a nuisance be reported?

In the first instance, we recommend discussing the matter with your neighbour to bring the issue to their attention in a friendly manner. They may not be aware that they are causing a problem. This will allow them to resolve the matter before involving Council.

If the matter continues to be a nuisance, you may log a request for service in writing, by emailing admin@wrc.sa.gov.au, post to PO Box 167 Balaklava SA 5461 or deliver to Balaklava Civic Centre Scotland Place Balaklava or lodge a Customer Request online https://www.wrc.sa.gov.au/credits/contactcouncil/contact-us
