Wakefield Community Garden

The Wakefield Community Garden, established in 2019, was established by Council through SA Health's Healthy Towns Program. Every week, members of the community come to share in a similar passion for gardening and to learn new skills, feel the earth with their hands and socialise.

The gate is always open, come on in and explore the Garden.

Located in Apex Park, Balaklava, Council aims for it to become its own self-sustainable community which promotes inclusiveness and a barrier to social isolation. It's somewhere people can connect, relax and feel like they're playing an active role and contributing to their local area.

There's plenty to do in the Garden:

  • Get a workout in a the Garden, or should we say: 'Green Gym'
  • Learn new skills like composting, worm farming and more
  • Pick produce from the signed communal plots
  • Take up your very own allotment

Interested in getting involved?

If you'd like to know more and ask about getting your own allotment at the Garden phone Secretary Una Pike on 0427 901 043.
