Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 1991 (SA) gives members of the public the right to access documents (subject to certain exemptions) within Council’s possession.

Many Council documents - including those found on this website - are publicly available and do not require a Freedom of Information (FOI) application. As much as possible, we make information readily available to the community.

However if you request other information, we will consider this in line with the requirements of the Act.

Please return the FOI request form to admin@wrc.sa.gov.au or in person at the Council office. Applicants will receive a response within 30 days of Council receiving the completed FOI request form, together with the application and search fees. These can be addressed to:

Freedom of Information Officer
Wakefield Regional Council
PO Box 167 BALAKLAVA SA 5461

Costs may apply to accessing documents pursuant to the Act.

If you have any further queries, please contact our Freedom of Information Officer on 8862 0800 or via email.

Amendment of Council Records

A member of the public may gain access to Council documents to make amendments concerning their personal affairs by making a request to us, then seeking a correction to any information about themselves that is incomplete, incorrect, misleading or out of date.

To gain access to these Council records, a member of the public can request a copy or complete a Freedom of Information request form, outlining the records he/she wishes to inspect.
