It’s never been easier to quench your thirst and stay healthy, thanks to new drinking fountains installed by SA Water and Wakefield Regional Council in the Mid North.
The drinking fountains, called AquaBubblers, are located in Snowtown Skate Park and Stockyard Reserve - popular areas for the community.
Wakefield Regional Council Mayor Rodney Reid said Council was delighted to be working with SA Water to install the new drinking fountains.
“The drinking fountains also reinforce OPAL’s ‘Water. The Original Cool Drink’ message, which encourages water consumption and reducing the amount of sugary drinks consumed by children and families,” Mayor Reid said.
“Our Council recently joined the OPAL (Obesity Prevention and Lifestyle) Network to further support and encourage our community to eat well and be active.
“Choosing tap water over sugary drinks is a very important part of a healthy lifestyle, and by installing water fountains in popular locations, we can help make this choice easier for our community.
“By installing the AquaBubblers, access to the water in the community has improved, making it easier to choose water over other alternatives.”
SA Water’s Manager of Community Relations Phil Jones said SA Water was proud to be working with OPAL and the Council on promoting the benefits of tap water.
“We’ve received some excellent feedback from the community about these AquaBubblers,” Phil said.
“SA Water is committed to working with local government and the community to make it easier to choose healthier alternatives.
“The AquaBubblers encourage people to access tap water instead of purchasing sugary drinks, and are one way we can help create healthy lifestyles and outcomes.”
