Wakefield Regional Council is proudly participating in a regional funding program, offering a two-year traineeship opportunity for a young South Australian.
State Minister for Regional Development Geoff Brock announced the Regional Youth Traineeship Fund, a partnership between Regions SA and the Local Government Association of South Australia, in 2016.
This two year program, worth $2 million, assists unemployed youth aged 17-24 years to enter the workforce through traineeships in Local Government. It is aimed at people living in regional areas and helps them to achieve a Certificate III level qualification.
Miss Victoria Young began employment with Wakefield Regional Council on 3 April and is completing a two year traineeship in Certificate III in Business and Certificate III in Local Government.
Council Chief Executive Officer Jason Kuchel said, “This initiative is fantastic as it provides employment opportunities for young people where they can learn applicable skills and gain formal qualifications, particularly within Local Government.”
He added, “It is the first year Wakefield Regional Council has participated in the program. The outcomes are beneficial for both our youth and the organisation, and we see this as an excellent way to skill young people in the region and give them a job within regional communities.”
