Kick start a community project with Council’s Minor and Major Community Grants
Council’s Minor and Major Community Grants are open for 2025/26, with Major grant categories able to benefit from up to $25,000 in funding and $2,000 for minor grants.
Each year these grants help fund great local community projects within Wakefield.
Last year’s grants provided $99,000 in funding across 15 projects for community groups in Wakefield.
Projects included in the funding ranged from shades for Brinkworth Bowling Club, lighting upgrades for Hummocks Watchman Eagles Football Club and archive storage for the Balaklava Museum.
To be eligible for funding community groups must have projects that are aligned with Council’s Wakefield 2030 plan, they must be investment ready and inclusive and accessible, and the projects must be on community land.
Community groups looking to apply for the funding must be based within the Wakefield region and the grants are subject to Council approving the 2025/26 budget.
Mayor Rodney Reid encouraged all community groups to take the time and consider the projects they’re looking to complete in the upcoming year.
“If your community group has a great idea, they want to bring to life to help support your club or group, this is a great way to get it off the ground,” Mayor Reid said.
“I encourage you to take the time to fill out an application form either online or you can print one out and submit your group’s great idea.”
All the grant application details can be found on Council’s website at www.wrc.sa.gov.au
Guidelines for applying to each funding category can also be found on Council’s website and should be read carefully before applying.
Applications for the Community Grants program close May 30, 2025, and applicants will be notified if their project has been successful in July 2025.
