Light up the Dawn this ANZAC Day

Published 22nd April 2020
Remember the brave men and women from our region who fought and served for freedom and democracy.

This ANZAC Day will look and feel very different. We can't stand together, but we can still stand united in our driveways, our living rooms, and by our farmgate to #LightUptheDawn

Use your own words of reflection, name people you remember, give gratitude for those who served and sacrificed, and to those still serving our nation.

Recite the Ode:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Minute of Silence

Recite: Lest We Forget

How can we remember them on April 25:

  • Watch ABC TV, or ABC iView from 5:00am local time (for the Australian War Memorial Service from Canberra).
  • #Light up the Dawn - keep listening, or tune in later on local ABC Radio, for the South Australian dawn service (at sunrise) on at 6:30am local time. (Check all details on ABC here: https://ab.co/2Vf0qX0)
  • In Balaklava - the dawn service will be played in the Triangle, from 6:30am, so listen out from your driveways and front yards.
  • Laying of the Wreaths can be done from sunrise to sunset throughout the day at the Memorial in your town.
  • At 11:30am, a reflection video will be live-streamed across all ABC local radio Facebook pages and on the ABC News Facebook page (see ABC North and West - our local ABC station).
