Nominations for the 2018 Citizen of the Year Awards will close a week from today. However, there is still plenty of time to nominate those special people and groups in your community who so generously give their time and expertise to help others. Get a wriggle on and nominate your local inspiring person before Friday 17 November.
On Australia Day, our region acknowledges the achievements of our local heroes through the Citizen of the Year Awards. This is an opportunity for us to thank and award those individuals who help make the Wakefield region a great place to live, work and play.
If you know someone or a community group who would be eligible for one of the three categories below, nominate them today.
•Citizen of the Year (over 30 years old)
•Young Citizen of the Year (under 30 years old)
•Community Event of the Year
Wakefield Mayor Rodney Reid is encouraging residents to get their nominations in “quick smart” so that more people can be recognised for all their hard work. We are also after some more nominations for Young Citizen of the Year, Mayor Reid said.
“Secondary students throughout the region are currently busy undertaking their exams. If there are any achieving academically and still volunteering to help others in the community, then please, nominate them as well,” he said.
To nominate go the Australia Day Council of SA website (www.citizenoftheyear.com.au) or council website (www.wrc.sa.gov.au). Remember, nominations close Friday 17 November.
