Public Consultation - Road Closures, Bowmans
Council has been investigating options for a suitable levee system to mitigate future flood events impacting the settlement of Bowmans. The proposed flood mitigation strategy concept design, features two separate sections of levee required to protect the township from flooding. A large part of the proposed levees run through private land, however the balance of the levees will run within Council road reserves.
To accommodate the eastern levee, it is proposed to close a portion of March Street and an unnamed road, with the full closure of Second Street. The western levee will cross a section of Bowmans Road (First St to Balaklava Rd) and will required closure also.
As part of the roads closure process, Council is required to undertake community consultation and invite any interested parties to make a submission to the proposal if they so wish.
The plan of proposed closures is available for public inspection at the Council office or the Adelaide Office of the Surveyor-General during normal office hours. The plan may also be viewed at www.sa.gov.au/roadsactproposals
Any application for easement or objection must be made in writing to the Council and a copy forwarded to the Surveyor-General at GPO Box 1815 Adelaide 5001. The submission must include the full name, address and details of the submission and must be fully supported by reasons and received by Council no later than Thursday, 20 June 2024.
