Council’s Community Development Coordinator Holly Hannaford and Community Wellbeing Officer Taryn Hall lacing up their walking shoes ready for Sunday’s Walk for Wellbeing.

Wakefield Regional Council is encouraging locals to get out this weekend and Walk for their Wellbeing with a 5km walk in Balaklava hosted by Council.
Departing from the Bruce Drive Shelter at 9am, you’ll walk a five-kilometre loop – following the Lions Walking Trail and Shamus Liptrot Trail.
Council’s Community Development Coordinator Holly Hannaford said the Walk is open to anyone and is encouraging people to bring their friends and families to come out and enjoy the morning.
“We want to encourage the feel-good-effects of walking within our communities, so we’re rolling out this region-wide initiative – Balaklava will be the first with the second walk coming up in Brinkworth on Sunday, 13 November,” Ms Hannaford said.
“Get your walking shoes on and join us Sunday morning – we’ll have a free sausage sizzle after the walk and a coffee van available for purchases.”
This is the first of many events aimed at encouraging people to get out and get active in our community with a suite of events to roll-out in the coming year encouraging wellbeing and fitness activities.
“Over the summer months, we’ll swap walking for aquatic activities at our local pools – creating fun active events for all ages.”
“These activities will highlight some of the great facilities in our region including our fantastic network of walking trails and our upgraded aquatic facilities.”
Keep a close eye on Council’s social media and website for upcoming events and activities coming to your town.
