No stone will be left unturned now that Wakefield Regional Council has formed an Infrastructure Committee to manage plans and budgets for Council’s roads and assets.

A team of zealous Council members and staff has been established to work together and consider the best approach to minimise infrastructure costs and increase productivity.

Council will benchmark production against similar councils to identify potential areas for improvement, with all options and ideas open for consideration.

Wakefield Regional Council CEO Jason Kuchel said, “Council’s enthusiasm towards addressing these longstanding issues demonstrates that Council is listening to the community.”

The purpose of the group is to offer considerable guidance to Council with an aim to improve local council roads and assets whilst remaining within the boundaries of the budget.

Key focus points for the group include asset rationalisation; long-term planning; major infrastructure projects and service delivery with a priority on road maintenance efficiencies.

Mayor Rodney Reid commended Council’s passion to assist local community members and businesses. He said, “Targeting our assets and roads is an important step for Council, I believe the group will achieve constructive outcomes.”

The first meeting is scheduled in February 2017.
