Port Wakefield resident and Central Ward Councillor Richard ‘Dick’ Pain has resigned from Wakefield Regional Council, citing personal reasons.

Councillor Pain has served on Council since 2012 and was also a member of the previous Wakefield Plains Council in the 1980s.
Mayor Rodney Reid praised Councillor Pain’s strong commitment to the community – in particular in the Port Wakefield area – and said his passion for high standards of service delivery and local government accountability was outstanding.

“In his time with Council, Dick has lobbied hard for ratepayers in his area and been a strong advocate for Council focusing on delivering the infrastructure and services the community expects,” Mayor Reid said.

“He has been a member of numerous Council committees, and continues to play an active role in Port Wakefield with his wife, Glenda.

“On behalf of the Council and employees of Wakefield, I’d like to wish Dick, Glenda and the Pain family all the best.”

Councillor Pain’s resignation will see Council conduct a supplementary election for the vacant Central Ward position. Further details about the election will be published in the coming weeks.
