People can once again enjoy the full length of the Lions Walking Trail after work by Wakefield Regional Council to repair the damaged popular pathway.

Due to storm damage last September, a portion of the Lions Walking Trail was closed after Council ruled it a safety hazard.
Recently, the trail has been realigned and restored by Council’s Infrastructure Services team and residents are now able to walk the complete circuit (see pictures below).

Wakefield Mayor Rodney Reid encouraged residents to take advantage of the Spring weather and see the trail for themselves.

“We are having some marvellous weather here in Wakefield so I would encourage all residents to make the most of it and visit the repaired site,” he said.

“Walking the Lions Trail is a great way to see and experience some of Wakefield’s beautiful flora and fauna”.
The trail begins on Elizabeth Street, Balaklava, and follows the Wakefield River past Balaklava Memorial Hospital through Moody Estate.
