Wakefield's 2022 Community Grants Program Launched

Published 4th April 2022

WAKEFIELD Regional Council has kickstarted its Minor and Major Community Grants program for 2022 and local groups are encouraged to apply for funding to help activate the region.

Minor Grants are capped at $2,000 and Major Grants are funded up to $25,000.

Mayor Rodney Reid said Council’s Community Grants program was a great way for not-for-profit organisations to undertake projects that support the vision for Wakefield as a thriving and connected regional community and a

great place to belong.

“Last year’s program contributed to 13 projects across the Minor and Major Grants categories, injecting $110,000 into local community projects,” Mayor Reid said.

“These exciting projects included the Brinkworth School Community garden, Snowtown Centenary Park toilet and shower block upgrade and the Solar Savings project for the Lochiel Community.

“We’re continuing to look for projects that align with our Wakefield 2030 themes of Liveable Communities,Thriving Region and Sustainable Future.

“Council has further revised the process to apply for our grants which has made the program even easier for community groups to access this year.”

Community groups looking to apply for the funding must be based within the Wakefield region and the grants are subject to Council approving the 2022/23 budget.
