Township Road Sealing Plan
About the Plan
More of Wakefield’s inner township roads will be sealed under a large-scale program to span beyond the next decade.
Wakefield Regional Council undertook research to compile the Township Road Sealing Plan, which recommended the sequence of streets to be sealed largely based on the number of dwellings, higher traffic count and connectivity to other streets.
Following Council’s endorsement of the program at its February meeting, Wakefield Mayor Rodney Reid said the program would be one aspect of Council’s efforts to provide quality infrastructure to the community.
“Sealing our township roads is a significant future investment in our community and the beginning of a better way to manage our roads,” Mayor Reid said. “A sealed road requires less ongoing works, with only standard maintenance necessary from time to time.
Council expects the program to roll out from the middle of next year.
